Our People, Our Strength

Testing the Tools that Keep Canadians Safe

Ludmila joined ADGA in 2012, having earned her college degree in interactive media development. Though it wasn’t an immediately obvious career path, a family friend who was already on a contract with ADGA recommended that her skills could be put to good use testing software in mission-critical defence environments. Ludmila quickly realized how well her knowledge of script and experience testing and playing around with software mapped onto the needs of the role.
“I feel honoured to be a part of the important work that ADGA does, and understand the responsibility that comes with it. The nature of testing work can be very repetitive, systematically probing for problems to ensure everything works properly. But always in the background of my mind is who this work is going to help in the long run. It’s what makes me keep pushing myself mentally to understand the technology better and anticipating what can go wrong.”
Never forgetting who this work is helping

Communicating to overcome challenges

"With the world we’re living in right now, it’s absolutely essential to communicate well. Not just to avoid misunderstandings, but because it’s the only way we can make progress. Having to work remotely from home has been challenging this past year, but we’ve made the adjustments to ensure we are still connected and constantly discussing what we need to do to move forward."

Constantly upgrading skills and knowledge

"My forte from interactive design helped me understand how to look for and find what can be very small coding issues in the software. Technology is evolving so fast, every few months there is new software or new standards to learn. What I love about my job is the constant upgrade of skills and knowledge, getting to learn a lot and dedicate myself to what I love doing."

My ADGA Mentor

Melony Malo, Senior Software Tester
“I’ve worked with Melony almost since the beginning of my time at ADGA, and so much of what I’ve learned comes from her. She was so generous with her time in training me, and then later preparing me for the next step to a higher position and greater responsibilities. She has always encouraged me, telling me that I have all the right skills, and she believes in me. Everything she knows she has passed on to me, and it’s why I’m now second in command on our project under her. If I am ever faced with a challenge, she’s always there, working to solve problems together.”
