ADGA’s New VP Operations a “Top Woman in Defence” and “Game Changer”

Ottawa, ON – May 10, 2023:  ADGA Group is thrilled to welcome Jana Lee Murray to its Executive Leadership Team as Vice-President, Operations. Murray is an award-winning business professional with 20 years of experience working in the technical domains of human systems integration, global business development, and global account management.

During her career, Murray has advanced high-technology solutions in support of the defence and security, public safety, aerospace and aviation, marine, nuclear, healthcare, and commercial sectors. Her most recent role was as Program Director of Babcock Leonardo Canadian Aircrew Training, rising from previous roles as VISSC II Capture Manager and Senior Manager Business Support.

Earlier in her career, she devoted 14 years at CAE Inc., where her initial focus was on Human Factors. She eventually advanced to roles as Account Manager for defence and public safety, followed by Account Manager for the NATO Flying Training in Canada program.

Within the industry, Murray has been recognized with the distinction of Esprit de Corps’ Top Women in Defence (2016) and Vanguard Game Changer (2018-2019).

Shaun McEwan, President, ADGA, says, “Integrating Jana Lee’s leadership and experience into this next era of ADGA’s growth is perfect timing. The escalating focus of the Canadian Government and Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) on operational readiness, reconstitution and modernization has accelerated the pace of Canadian industry to align. As we welcome Jana Lee to our Executive Leadership Team, ADGA has further strengthened our capacity and agility to support the CAF’s critical requirements. She is a great fit for this next era of ADGA’s growth.”

Murray says, “My background has a common theme—advancing the safety, technical capacity and operational readiness of the women and men who share a passion to protect Canada and Canadians. It resonated with me to join ADGA not only because it’s a proven defence and technology company, but also because it recently adopted a unique social purpose. As a member of Commissionaires Ottawa Group, ADGA shares Commissionaires’ mandate to give back to veterans and their families in our communities. Professionally and socially, ADGA is making a difference.”

Murray has been active with Women in Defence and Security (WiDS), where she served as President for a five-year term between 2015-2020. She was also a member of the Centennial College Emergency Management and Public Safety Institute (EMPSI) Steering Committee (2010 –2016). She holds a Master of Human Kinetics (University of Windsor, 2005) and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (Wilfred Laurier University, 2003), both with distinction.

Internally, ADGA’s previous Vice-President, Operations, Col (Ret’d) Rick Fawcett, has been appointed to the newly created role of Vice-President, Strategy and Business Development. Murray and Fawcett, with their teams, will work closely to refine ADGA’s operational capacity and innovative service offerings.

Murray’s first day with ADGA will be May 15th, 2023.
