Position Summary

Job Description

REF #:001 

  • test planning and coordination for MCS applications;
  • provide application guidance and assistance concerning test planning and co-ordination of MCSC applications;
  • communicate with CAF application user representatives to assist them in identifying and defining operational requirements and how they impact the test plans;
  • specify the validation and verification criteria and capability which confirms functional and performance compliance in accordance with feedback from CAF users; the troubleshooting of application problems using various problem determination methods such as tracing prior execution of code, and obtaining client feedback to determine a viable resolution;
  • provide subject matter expertise to clients using the specialized software;
  • collect new requirements, change requests from users, and provide feedback on the impact to the test plan;
  • assist with development and improvement of test plans;
  • filter/test/distribute reported issues to the DevOps and ACDC tracking systems as well as DND senior technical staff to ensure validation and verification of tests plans on high priority items;
  • perform functional and performance compliance testing of a fixed bug before implementation;
  • communicate changes to client reps with software in pre-production environments to explain the changes of the new release;
  • advise clients on how to operate various applications;
  • provide second level support to CAF L1 organizations and MCSC operational support team within area of responsibility/work items to ensure in-service functionality or to respond to immediate operational issues;
  • participate in application sprint planning;
  • follow all team security and operational procedures;
  • participate in regular scrum meeting (develop team and client rep) to confirm scope and distribution of effort;
  • progress assigned work items both collectively/collaboratively and independently throughout weekly sprint sub-cycles;
  • review feedback from process owners/application users/issues identified through helpdesk/technical review to understand issue/problem and action needed to resolve;
  • submit/contribute/update user specifications/user stories/change requests/bug reports/performance criteria/test plans/test cases/test failure reports/release tasks, all entry types in DevOps or other tracking systems;
  • participate in scheduling the work items to be advanced in sprint cycle and utility expected to be delivered to clients;
  • test new components or changed components at individual and integrated levels (beta, staging, client etc);
  • verify proposed software change meets client/user intent, may require prototype functionality;
  • filter/test and report bugs or new requirements;
  • test bug fixes and required regression testing of functionality before implementation;
  • update related documentation and training support materials or provide to supporting team members;
  • provide general subject matter expertise to others as required; and
  • contribute opportunities to improve team effectiveness or further functional opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years experience as a Tester
  • Minimum of 8 years experience within the past 12 years testing HRMS applications in large organizations (10000+ users)
  • Minimum of 8 years experience within the past 10 years testing the administration of large organizations (10000+ users) HRMS applications
  • Minimum of 6 years experience within the past 10 years processing new requirements and change requests for software applications

Additional Information

  • Must be able to go onsite in Ottawa 5 days a week 
  • Able to obtain and maintain a Government Secret level clearance
