Job Description

ADGA is hiring Junior Software Developers to work on a Canadian defence program we manage. The Junior Software Developers will be developing Military Command Systems in the Military Command Software Centre (MCSC).

The MCSC maintains a suite of mission-critical applications in support of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) operations, Monitor MASS/Nomad. Continuously evolving CAF requirements must be proactively managed and supported. The following functionality will be pursued as resources are available:

Monitor/MASS

  • Monitor and fix deficiencies if necessary of the Monitor/MASS client and the web based side of REO
  • Support CANSOFCOM High Site with updates of MCS suite and data loading, new loading process to be supported
  • Continued Development of new User Account Interface
  • Corrections to the Navy Reserve Currency Reference Data
  • Updated queries for the monitor mass analytics tool.
  • Update PDF with DND PDF replacement technology
  • Collaborative design and develop PER internal tracking system to follow the PER's from the writer until it is sent to the center using PKI signature authentication if possible
  • Update Activity Management
  • Expansion of Member Currency module
  • Support redevelopment of Leave Pass functionality
  • Collaborative support and design to support the CAF/MCSC Internet portal request process
  • Collaborative support and design to support Full Time Summer employment program
  • Collaborative support and design to support Availability Reporting with some source data from the portal
  • Web Based Dashboard
  • Enhance Help Desk personnel “Super/Custom” functionality
  • Develop and implement a Reference Table Editor
  • Updated Parade State
  • Improve integration for Training Selections ( Session Manager )

NOMAD

  • In-service support of deployed functionality - fix identified deficiencies
  • Data synchronization support and on-going collaboration
  • Support installation of latest release on NOMADs ships excluding Operational
  • Regular monitoring and Failed Transaction Processing
  • Investigated issue’s affecting training selection (Course Loading) on ships
  • Performance improvements
  • Streamlined release and update process
  • NOMAD Manager enhancements
  • NOMAD Dashboard enhancements
  • Setup of NEW Beta NOMAD Servers
  • The Junior Software Developer will be expected to provide systems expertise in support of the CAF Monitor MASS as well as Nomad and custom MCSC utilities.

Tasks

The Junior Software Developer will provide services that  must include but are not limited to the following:

  • Study existing PL SQL Code and write PL SQL code to meet requirements of change specifications;
  • Create, design and debug C++ and PL SQL programming codes to ensure technical performance;
  • Analyse the problems outlined by team seniors in terms of such factors as style and extent of information to be transferred to and from storage units, variety of items to be processed, extent of sorting, and format of final printed results; and
  • Any other related tasks requested by the team to support operations.

Qualifications

  • A degree from an accredited University OR Computer Programming or college specializing in Computer Science or Computer Programming.
  •  A minimum of 1 year of demonstrated combined experience within the past 3 years in one of:

    • C++ using MS Visual Studio for application development; OR

    • PL SQL for applications development; OR

    • C# using MS Visual Studio for Web application design.

  • 1 year of demonstrated experience developing software within an Agile development environment.

  • A minimum of 1 year of demonstrated experience developing HRMS for large organizations like DND (10000+ users with 1000 concurrent users) applications within the past three 3 years.

  • A minimum of 1 year of demonstrated experience testing software applications within the past 3 years.
