Chief Operating Officer of the ADGA Group
Originally a native of Vancouver, John Jarvis joined ADGA as Vice President of Finance in February 2014. In 2015, he became Acting President before moving into his current role as ADGA’s Chief Operating Officer.
Over the last 15 years, he served as the GM of the Westin Ottawa. His pinnacle of success came in 2011 and 2012 when his team and property were recognized for successive years as Starwood Hotels and Resort’s top property in North America. John Jarvis was also named General Manager of the Year in 2013 from among Starwood’s 565 hotels and GMs.
Prior to Ottawa, John Jarvis spent time in London, Calgary and Vancouver. His hotel career was launched after studying business administration and hotel management at Simon Fraser University and the British Columbia Institute of Technology, respectively.
John Jarvis has a strong belief that success in business is built on the engagement of its most important asset: its people. He values the measure of employee engagement as the barometer that correlates to the business’s client satisfaction. Unique to his role as a finance executive is his conviction that the higher that both the engagement and satisfaction indexes are, the better the financial outcomes will be.
John is also committed to making life better in the community through his involvement on the board of two different charities: the Christmas Cheer Foundation and the Youth Services Bureau. He has been recognized for his past contributions by being named by the United Way as an Ottawa Community Builder and for the Quality of Life Award from the St. Joe’s Women’s Shelter.
