ADGA invests in its people in many ways including this unique opportunity to experience the CAF
For two days, ADGA team members are with the Canadian Armed Forces for a team building opportunity and professional development program
We are following their journey in ‘real time’ over the course of the two days. Through blog posts such as these and posts on social media, follow our team members in this exercise that hones leadership, communications and teamwork skills.
Today Monica, Business Services Manager, Ron, Supervisor of Ontario Regions, Pierre, Senior Project Lead, Alan, Space Lab Engineer, Ryan, Managing Director, GTA, and Andrea, Test Manager began their day with a 0600hrs reveille. They put on their military uniforms and started the day with an obstacle course.
24 Field Squadron lead two lectures today. The first was on the theory of team development and the second on effective communications.
A team performs best when they are a united group with common goals.
One member had to say,
“This experience has been amazing so far. Major Littlechild just gave his presentation on leadership. He was open and honest- I found it very enlightening.” Monica, Business Support Manager
The ADGA team members also participated in a panel discussion regarding the roadblocks to forming effective teams. On the panel was senior members of 24 Field Squadron. The exchange between Military and civilian was important, as the experiences are transferable to the challenges of every day operations in the private sector.
One member had to say
Once lunch and the lectures concluded, it was time to join 23 Field Squadron to put their refined skills to practice. Our civilian employees are currently paired with a member of the 23 Field Squadron where together they must complete the team building practical challenge.
Once complete, they will move to a military battle procedure before dinner. Tonight they will go to ground at 2100hrs. After a grilling mental and physical day, that should not be a problem.
