100th Anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge:
A seminal event in Canada’s history
OTTAWA- ADGA was proud to support Brigadier General William Richard who led a Canadian delegation to France to participate in the commemorative events to mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge. Amongst the group was MCpl Boyd and Cpl Hearn, two soldiers sponsored by ADGA to lay a wreath on our behalf.
MCpl Boyd has been posted to the Canadian Forces Joint Signal Regiment (CFJSR) since 2012, he is an Army Communication Information System Specialist who is employed in Regimental Training. Cpl Hearn has been posted to the Canadian Forces Joint Signal regiment (CFJSR) since 2013, he is an Army communication Information System Specialist who is employed as a Light Communication Suite (LCS) Det Comd and currently employed as the Disaster Area Response Team (DART) CO’s Signaller.
Events included the signature event at the Canadian National Vimy Memorial on April 9, 2017, and the opening of the Visitor Education Centre. B Gen Richard was accompanied by a number of veterans and serving soldiers who toured the battlefields and assisted at the commemorative ceremony.
The battle of Vimy Ridge is one of bravery and sacrifice, which took place on April 9, 1917, and is commonly highlighted as a turning point in Canadian history, where the four Canadian divisions fought together as a unified fighting force for the first time. While 3,598 Canadian soldiers were killed during the battle, the impressive victory over German forces is often cited as the beginning of Canada’s evolution from dominion to independent nation

At ADGA, we believe in giving back. As a company that values its team members, we are proud to engage with them in support of numerous causes close to our heart.
As a proud ally of the Canadian Armed Forces, ADGA participates annually in the Army Run, Vimy Dinner, and the Army Ball. We are members of Canada Company, and lend support to their efforts to transition men and women from uniform to civilian life. We contribute to Soldier On, a program that supports currently serving members and veterans to overcome their physical or mental health illness or injury through physical activity and sport. We also give in other ways, including our support of Candlelighters, and the Adrian Oliver Memorial Run. As active members of the communities in which we work and serve, we look to both internal and external avenues for fundraising and participation. For example, our BBQ competition which has quickly become an annual event. The ADGA Rib Fest, where funds raised benefit a designated charity. In October, we raised $2500 for Soldier On. Our latest efforts were directed to the Red Cross. ADGA is more than a shared workplace for our employees, it’s a belief in the shared value of making a difference in our communities.
